Why

Drawing or sketching is part of an architect’s tool kit, not only in representation, but more effectively as a way to diagnose, understand and thinking about architecture. It is an investigative process and a vehicle in learning to see architecture. It is a core skill that requires a lot of hands-on time in teaching and practice. It is not necessarily about pretty drawings, but rather clarity of information and effective communication.

What

Aimed at students and graduates of architecture, or anyone else generally interested, Archimarathon DRAW are full day architecture walking tours with a focus on learning to see and understand architecture through drawing. We will immerse ourselves in extraordinary architecture and urban spaces, focusing on fundamental drawing conventions such as sections and plans as well as analytical understanding through parti diagrams.

How

Archimarathon DRAW are full day sessions limited to small groups to ensure the appropriated amount of attention is given to participants. Whilst I believe even a single session is going to make a dramatic difference, taking multiple sessions is encouraged to ensure progress and improvement as well as seeing different architecture the city has to offer.
