FAQ

Archimarathon Tours

Do you only accept Australian attendees?

Hell no. We like the diversity that different attendees offer. It only serves to have a more rich experience and conversations.

Do I have to be in architecture to be on the tours?

No you don’t have to have studied or studying architecture to be on the tours as long as you are generally interested to learn about architecture and design. We say we are all students of architecture, some of us are just further down the road that others.

How much stuff should I bring or carry?

Archimarathon tours really requires attendees to travel light. Cabin luggage only and no roller luggage. 45L maximum. That is because we often will be carrying our luggage across town or stuffing them in lockers. We need to be nimble, go on demand and not stuff up our backs in the process. We can provide you with an example pack list if required.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes. All attendees of Archimarathon tours must have their own, comprehensive travel insurance cover that includes any cancellations due to COVID19.

What do the fees include?

The fees are covering for the curation, organisation and the physical leading of the tours. It does NOT include your flights, accommodation, transport, food and admissions.

Do I make my own bookings?

For international tours, Archimarathon will usually make the bookings within the duration of the tour itinerary on your behalf and all paid upfront items by Archimarathon are reimbursable back to Archimarathon. It is a transparent process and a spreadsheet is kept for your reference. Archimarathon is not responsible for your transport or accommodation bookings prior to or after the tour.

Do we all stay at the same places together during the tour?

There is a general preference for everyone to stay close and minimise any unnecessary wasted time. We understand everyone have different accommodation budget and comfort preferences so please let Kevin know so he can plan it the best he can and that satisfies everyone as much as possible.

Do we have free time during the tour?

Compare to other tours, Archimarathon is about a shared experience where conversations and discussions are just as important as the buildings we see daily. Technically the end of each day (which varies) you are free to do what you want to do, we do find that attendees do want to stick with Kevin, who would seek out uniquely local food and experiences. There are definitely specific times such as admission bookings or transport bookings we cannot be late to.

What if I need a visa to enter countries on the tour?

Please check if you would need a visa for the countries we are visiting and their requirements for application if required. Often they would need booked flights, booked accommodation and itinerary. Liaise with Kevin as he is the one with the itinerary and bookings.

How much should I budget for the trip?

Well it is hard to say exactly because everyone have different accommodation preferences and food + drinks price point, but a good website to get an idea of the rough budget is budgetyourtrip.com and we are generally somewhere between budget to midrange usually.

Archimarathon STUDIO

How do I apply?

Please send us your Curriculum Vitae (not a resume or folio). We want to know a bit about your background and who you are. Your work is something that we can help with. It’s not like getting a job but joining a community.

Will I be given work to do?

No. You bring your work from university here and we as a community help you with it as well as getting the most out of your education.

How often am I expected to be there?

STUDIO is not class, it’s a home away from home where you spend most of your time. If you find yourself doing university work at home or at university, you are not here enough.

How much does it cost to join Archimarathon STUDIO?

It is best that you make an appointment to visit the STUDIO before Kevin walks you through the details.
