pearl river delta

11 Day Architecture Tour
26 November - 6 December 2025

Join Kevin and Andrew on this journey of the Pearl River Delta region in Southern China, exploring the cities of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Macau. Originally a native of Hong Kong, Kevin is familiar with Cantonese food and culture.

Despite being one of the most densely populated and urbanised regions in the world, the area is home to a number of villages and parks featuring remarkable new small-scale architecture, alongside impressive mega projects by both local and international architects.

This tour begins with 3 days in Hong Kong, followed by 4 days exploring Shenzhen and its unique districts. From there, we’ll take a quick train to Guangzhou, the heart of Cantonese culture, and visit Shawan Ancient Town to experience traditional Lingnan architecture. The tour concludes in Macau, where historic Portuguese streets contrast with modern mega-casinos, before returning to Hong Kong to finish.

There will be a lot of walking and public transport use. A certain basic level of fitness is required and it is best suited for architects, architecture graduates, architecture students, enthusiasts and independent travellers.
